Will your fluency and content affect your interview score?

Will your fluency and content affect your interview score?

Yes! 80% of the time!

To understand this answer better, let me split this question into two parts.

Question 1: Will language and content affect the confidence level of candidates?

Mostly, yes! 80% of the time!

Question 2: Will a candidate’s confidence level affect their interview score?

It’s a resounding yes.

Most of the time, a lack of knowledge and poor communication skills push a person into a state of dilemma.

They start to think while speaking: "Is my answer correct? Are my word choice, pronunciation, or grammar accurate?"

These thoughts play a cat-and-mouse game in the mind, disrupting originality and spontaneity. Eventually, confidence becomes the scapegoat.

What is the solution?

There are two solutions:

One: Improve your content and communication. As you improve in these areas, you’ll notice a boost in confidence. That feels good.

Two: Detach your confidence level from content and communication. Deficiencies in content or scars in communication shouldn’t impact you. You may fumble, but that should not trouble you. Remain poised and rise to the occasion. However, this is easier said than done.

Therefore, a good strategy is the mixed strategy. Learn to insulate your confidence from your communication and content levels, while still working earnestly to improve them.

Even if you haven’t reached the desired level by the time you go to Delhi, begin to dissociate your confidence from these factors.

Moreover, you shouldn’t conflate confidence with mannerisms, clothing, speaking loudly, or simply trying to be pleasant.

Confidence is fundamentally a result of being original and spontaneous. You can’t “build” confidence; at best, you can only strive to be yourself.
